Charlie and Lola!
Hi all. I'm back! Between my phoneline having a "service blackout" or somesuch krayp and my powerbook being in the shop for weeks, I've been kinda OFF THE GRID.
But now here I am for a quick howdy and to tell you all that C6 and I are in LOVE with Charlie and Lola. It is a really cool British cartoon that is on the Disney channel. I looooove the way it looks. It is really photomontage-y and texture-y, scribbly, with lots of fabric patterns. I've seen little bits of it before in passing - it caught my eye. But we never really hunkered down with an episode until recently and we are both hooked.
Each episode begins with Charlie, a 7-year old boy, saying "I have this little sister Lola. She is small. .. and very funny." Lola is 4, and Charlie's right - she's very funny.
Just a quick look on Youtube - ah, here's an episode titled "There is Only One Sun and That is ME". Take a look - Part 1 and Part 2.
The titles of some of the episodes we've watched are hilarious – witness: "I'm Really Ever So Not Well", "I Do Not Ever, Never Want My Wobbly Tooth to Fall Out", "I Must Take Completely Everything", and ''I'm Far Too Extremely Busy". This is the way Lola speaks, and I'm totally charmed, akin to how I'm charmed by Eloise's pattern of speech.
I love that Lola has an imaginary friend named Soren Lorenson. I love the pissacool style of it all, the music, the clothes they wear, the conversations...well worth a viewing!
And. I think Charlie looks a bit like John Vanderslice, don't you?
